Guano + Raggio

700-704 Montrose Street, Philadelphia, PA [formerly known as Marriott Street]

1892 | Macaroni Factory | Undetermined

“Parker…has prepared plans for a new factory building for Guano & Raggio to be erected at 7th and Marriott Streets adjoining their present plan 48 x 70 feet, four stories high, slag roof, and wall to be of brick, stone trimmings, interior will be fitted with freight lifts, toilet rooms, also a stable will be upon ground floor of the same building, also steam power, heat, and machinery.” (June 1, 1892)

This project follows at least one other commission for the same pasta company. The 1892 project seems to have expanded on whatever building/addition is referred to in the 1890 notices—that commission was for a five-story building—but this latest project may in fact be an adaptation of the earlier plans.
